Opinion · Op-ed
Dear Springdale,
The Springdale Sun has assiduously avoided any politics outside of Springdale. There are thousands of news outlets for that but no other strictly Springdale outlet. Does the previous article veer into national politics or is it simply a request that our Town acknowledge Christopher Columbus Day?
In any case, a few people have requested TSS publish some things which are clearly politics outside of Springdale, the specific example of which will be published at the very end of this issue, page 21.
A very real concern is that people will choose to unsubscribe to The Springdale Sun when political views with which they disagree appear.
Is that projecting a level of pettiness and immaturity that does not exist in our community? One can hope so.
Any such article is welcome to be rebutted, and will appear at the very end, and thus be avoidable.
As is typical with these and any other op-eds, even local ones, they do not necessarily represent the views of this paper.
But The Springdale Sun does value the first amendment, so is softening its no-national/state-politics stance. Perhaps temporarily. We will see what happens. I value your input. I have been debating this for quite a while. I am honestly, wholeheartedly, and genuinely trying to do what is best for Springdale. Help.
