Some Takeaways from the Town Council Meeting

Town Council members work hard and have a lot of stamina. I couldn’t manage to watch it all at one sitting, let alone sit there and stay engaged the entire time as they all did. Three hours and 33 minutes worth. Yikes.

Don’t miss the Star Party, Friday, May 29 at the Town Park at 9:30 pm.

Zion National Park has lots and lots and lots of tourists and not nearly enough funding. Who knew? Well, pretty much everyone in Springdale.

Zion Forever Project is awesome. Things like this group just make me aware of, and grateful for, the good in people. They are hosting a concert at the OC Tanner Ampitheater July 4th, proceeds going to ZNP.

There was a presentation by Sean Amodt from the mosquito board. That information deserves its own piece on the following page.

The issue to potentially have village commercial property have tiered landscaping requirements (where smaller properties require smaller percentages of landscaping) like residential and central commercial zones do, passed 4 to 1. Kyla was concerned that it would be an excuse for some developers to overdo and make things grandiose. I agreed with Randy that it would probably allow them to put more modest structures on those small parcels because they might not have to go crazy with 2 (or 3, if one is a basement) stories to get a functional building. But her point was valid and evidenced concern for Springdale. Either way, it just made sense, regardless of how it is implemented, that requirements for village commercial zoning be consistent with the requirements for central commercial and residential zonings. (full disclosure, it was my son’s application in regards to a property we own. I really don’t think that affects my opinion because of its limited impact for us, but, had I been voting, I would’ve recused myself.)

A major takeaway, Randy, Pat, and Jack really need to work on speaking into the mike. When I said I agreed with Randy, I was kinda guessing that’s what he said because it was so hard to hear. Kyla and Barbara are perfect when it comes to speaking into the mike. Show them how it’s done, Women Council Members!

I think the outline on the previous page is sufficient for the other items.
