Springdale Library—What It Has to Offer !!

Community-focused

Located at 126 Lion Boulevard, our Library is one of eight branches of the Washington County Library system. Serving a small but passionate community as well as travelers from around the world, the Springdale Library and its staff are dedicated to providing quality service and judgement-free access to information. The library aims to provide a safe environment for patrons to learn, discover, and engage.

Movies and audio and books, oh my!

The library provides the public access to a multitude of titles in a variety of mediums. The library offers books of all reading levels for all ages. If small print is hard on the eyes, take a look at what books we have in large print. No time to sit down and read anymore? Give audiobooks a try by checking out a playaway device, or download the Libby app! The library also has collection of movies, TV shows, documentaries, and more.

If you can’t find what you’re looking for on our shelves, you can login to your account on the online catalog to request an item from one of the other library branches and pick it up right here in Springdale!

Online resources

Library cards give patrons access to much more than books alone. Alongside access to ebooks and audiobooks through the Libby app, patrons can use their library card number to access a host of databases containing educational material, scientific sources, archives, and more!

For example, Creativebug is a website filled with online courses covering everything crafty, from holiday décor to crocheting plush toys to learning how to paint. Other resources, such as Scholastic Teachables and Scholastic Watch and Learn, are great for homeschooling assignments or supplementary material during school breaks and vacations, while Utah’s Online Library is filled with great sources for students of all ages.

To access these resources visit the Library System website and select either “Databases” or “Gale Premium Databases” underneath the header dropdown “eResources”. For more information please feel free to stop by the library or give us a call.

Library programs for everyone

The library is more than a repository of knowledge – it’s also a place for people of all ages to gather and connect. At the Springdale Library, we run programs and activities for folks of all ages to participate in.

During summer months, all over the county kids and adults alike have been challenged to read at least three hours per week, and as part of the program the county library branches have been hosting weekly activities for kids and teens. This year the Springdale Library collaborated on event scheduling with the Community Center’s YAZ activities, which went really well!

Our other programs run year-round and meet regularly. For example, each Wednesday morning we hold a story time and activity geared towards children ranging from pre-K to early elementary schoolers. Additionally, the library runs a monthly adult craft/paint night for ages eighteen and older.

The library also runs two separate book clubs that meet monthly! Teens and preteens looking to meet other readers should try the tween book club, which meets at the end of the month.

Equipment big and small!

A Washington County Library card also gives access to the computer lab, allowing patrons to log in and access the internet for up to four hours a day. In need of a quick print? The library printer is available for only $0.15 a side in black and white or $0.80 a side for color! If you’re interested in trying out 3D printing come get certified for the Springdale Library makerspace where we have our own 3D printer! We only charge for the cost of the filament ($0.05/gram).

The library also has a few unique pieces of equipment available for patrons to check out. For example, we have several blood pressure monitors available. Or if you’re looking for a way to appreciate our dark skies why not borrow our small Orion StarBlast telescope? Please reach out if you’d like to learn more.

In conclusion…

Whether or not you’re a “bookish” person there is a lot of benefit to be gained from having a library card. So whether you’re looking for a new movie to watch, an old novel you’re still fond of, or more ways to get out and participate with your community, come stop by the library!
