Town Hall

Wildland Urban Interface

The purpose of this summary is to give you access to more information rather than to deluge you with that information.

Working together with the Hurricane Valley Fire Protection District, the Town held a Wildland Fire community information meeting this past Tuesday. Nearly 50 residents were in attendance to learn about upcoming updates to wildland fire mitigation requirements mandated by State law.

Materials from the presentation are now available on the Town’s website. It is in the best interest of each of us to review the information so we can better understand the forthcoming changes to wildland fire policies that may affect our Springdale properties and our pocketbooks. The final slide includes several useful resource links for further review.

You can access the presentation here: https://www.springdaletown.com/583/Wildland-Urban-Interface

Properties in critical areas will be assessed a fee, as money motivates. The desired outcome is to prevent a woodland fire from burning your home.

As mentioned during the session, Dave Harmon, Wildland Fire Battalion Chief with Hurricane Valley Fire, is available to discuss wildfire risk and mitigation questions related to your specific property. He can be reached directly at dharmon@hvfssd.org.

Thank you for staying informed and/or becoming informed and engaged!

Thank you to those who organized and presented this helpful evening and the now readily available information.
